Adamou Ndam Njoya leaves colleagues in opposition

The leader of the Democratic Union of Cameroon (UDC), which had to sign with his colleagues at the UPC the MRC, PURS, the CPP and the MANIDEM a statement against the law on the Suppression of acts of terrorism Friday, 19 December at Yaoundé, eventually retracted at the last minute.

Finally, the declaration of the opposition parties against the Bill on the Suppression of acts of terrorism has not obtained the signature of Dr. Adamou Ndan Njoya, leader of the democratic Union of Cameroon (UDC).

Yet, until the last minute, nobody doubted the participation of this party in this initiative alongside the Union of the people of Cameroon (UPC), movement for the rebirth of Cameroon (MRC), Cameroon People Party (CPP), PURS and MANIDEMwhose representatives were also all present in the rehabilitation of Awards to students of the African School of ethics (EAE) based at the headquarters of the UDC in Yaounde just hours before.

"Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya left for Foumban this morning (Friday 19 December) to sign this declaration. Thus personal sensitivity problems made the doctor not to sign, once in Yaounde", Jean Marie Eloundou, the representative of MRC Cameroon regretted. When asked by the daily La Nouvelle Expression, manual Youmegne, one of the Communication members of the UDC explained the turnaround of the party by the fact that the latter does not share the same political vision with the other formations signatories to this declaration. "We are not in any alliance with them", he said.

This is not the first time that an initiative of the opposition to oppose a decision witnessed such dissent at the last minute. A coalition set up on October 17, 2011 between Kah Walla (CPP), Albert Dzongang (La Dynamique), John Fru Ndi (SDF), Adamou Ndam Njoya (UDC), Bernard Muna (AFP), Jean de Dieu Momo (PADDEC) and Paul Ayah Abine (PAP) to oppose the publication of the results of the election of October 09, 2011, poorly organized according to them by elections Cameroon (Elecam) did not operate as expected.
