Alcohol affecting the political commitment of the people - Célestin Djamen

Councillor of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) for the Douala 1 council accuses the Government of fostering the proliferation of bars with the intention of stifling any challenge.

It is obvious that the Social Democratic Front (SDF) as other parties, does not support the act against terrorism and wants to prevent the application. To do this, its leaders are planning to take to the streets but doubts the participation of the people.

One of them, Célestin Djamen, Councillor in the Borough of Douala 1 council, is aware of this lack of political commitment of Cameroonian populations. He attributed this lack of interest to the excessive consumption of alcohol.

"Need to be honest and make the observation that 90% of people are alcohol consumers. We know that when the settlers came at the time, they brought brass and alcohol. We know the effect of alcohol on the brain. You cannot claim what is yours if you drink every day. And only God knows the proliferation of bars that exist in our country," deplored the former candidate to the Presidency of the SDF.

Djamen accused the government of promoting exponential openness of beverage with the aim to make people drunk to prevent them from reflecting on the future. The thirsty for change believes that "if we have the destruction of bars, it is sure that there the revolution can begin.
