Campaign commissions being put in place and pre-campaign meetings holding nationwide.
President Paul Biya's ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM is currently selecting the finest of its supporters to lead campaign commissions in the September 30,2013 twin municipal and legislative elections.
The CPDM National President Paul Biya on August 26, 2013 signed two decisions. In the first one, he created the Central Campaign Commission and its members, with the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, the chairperson. In the second decision, Paul Biya designated chairpersons of the Regional Campaign Commissions. The cream of the CPDM barons who are either members of the party's Central Committee or Political Bureau are heading the regional commissions.
The caliber of officials designated indicate the determination of the party to leave nothing to chance as it is running in all constituencies for the 180 seats in the National Assembly and in 359 out of the 360 municipal councils. In this connection, the President of the Senate, Niat Njifenji Marcel is heading the CPDM campaign Commission in the West, Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang chairing that of the North West, President of the Economic and Social Council, Ayang Luc in the Far North, former Prime Minister and CPDM Group leader in the Senate, Peter Mafany Musonge in the South West, Minister of State for Justice, Laurent Esso in the Littoral, Higher Education Minister, Jacques Fame Ndongo in the South and the Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna leading the CPDM campaign team in the Centre Region, among others. Preparations are intensifying in the party headquarters for the designation of members of the regional campaign commissions, heads of divisional and council campaign commissions as well as their members.
The CPDM campaign teams will be going to the field which is now being prepared. Indeed, CPDM officials are currently on the field encouraging party supporters to collect their voter's cards and also reconciling those who were in one way or the other affected by the nomination of candidates for the September 30 legislative and municipal polls. The ongoing voter's cards collection crusade is from every indication part of the mobilization strategy of the CPDM.
