The Secretary General of the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, Secretary General, has expressed delight that party supporters were most committed and dynamic in the political arena of the South West Region. He made the remark at the Mile 17 NSIF hall while chairing a meeting with representatives of CPDM Sections from all the six Divisions of the Region. He said he was bearer of greetings and encouragements from the national chairman, President Paul Biya, to the entire South West.
After granting audiences to individuals and groups of local party authorities as well as Central Committee members from the Region on 20 December, the Jean Nkuete proceeded to hold a conference next day to hear reports about the progress of biometric voters' registration and the general health of the party from the various Divisions. The Secretary General condemned in-fighting and blackmail and instructed supporters to respect Section Presidents and all party hierarchy.
The visit of Mr. Nkuete enabled a pulse-taking and the full expression of inner feelings of both the population and party activities in an area where frank talk is evident. And that is how the CPDM party hierarchy was reminded from the various reports that the tear-jerking bad roads of the South West were becoming an impediment to the on-going biometric voters registration operation.
They, again, drummed into the ears of Jean Nkuete that even if tarring is more expensive, every effort should be made to ensure that roads are graded and maintained to be passable throughout the seasons. Such roads mentioned included the Bakebe-Menji-Dschang; the Mamfe-Akwaya; Kumba-Tombel-Loum; Kumba-Mamfe; Kumba Ekondo-Titi-Mundemba and all roads that link Sub-Divisional headquarters to Divisional capitals.
Although the press was excluded from in-camera discussions, Mr. Nkuete's closing speech in plenary painted a picture of a party that was revitalizing and flexing muscles for the expected parliamentary and council elections in 2013. As such, he warned that jockeying for positions should not wound the party in any way but only help bring in fresh blood for its growth and strength. The Secretary General of the CPDM urged the officials to intensify registration of voters even amid the difficulties mentioned.
Mr. Nkuete was flanked by South West authorities such as former PM and CPDM Politburo Member, Peter Mafany Musonge; Cameroon's National Assembly Vice Speaker, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka; Ndikum Clement Fon, Secretary General at the Governor's Office; host Section President, Mbella Moki Charles who gave a review of the party growth in the Region.
