The ongoing reorganisation of the basic organs of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, party on Monday, November 1, 2015, turned ugly as journalists received open threats, while a host of Sections Presidents and purported Central Committee members were barred from attending an evaluation meeting at the Kumba City Council Chambers.

Shortly after the in-camera meeting rounded off and the Regional Committee Chairman, Ibrahim Talba Malla gave his appraisal note, an ugly scene erupted when an official from the delegation made open threats on journalists.

The official whose names The Post got as Peter Masumbe pulled down his glasses and warned the Press “look at my face very well, nobody jokes with me and goes free. If we do not get good stories know that I will personally fish you people out one-by-one,” the official declared.

Added to the threats, the same official figured out a reporter of the Eden Newspaper, Jude Njinjuh insisting that his reports about the reorganisation of the party’s basic organs do not go well with the party hierarchy.

Before the warning, a member of the delegation Humphrey Ekema Monono had explained to the reporters that they will be given time to get whatever information they needed, irrespective of whether the journalists were from the private or public media.

Section Presidents, Central Committee Members Barred

Following the plethora of complaints concerning the elections, CPDM Section Presidents, Vice Section Presidents, YCPDM and WCPDM Section Presidents, Subsection Presidents and some purported Central Committee members who had flooded the City Council premises were kept abbey.

The high profile militants had seen in the visit of the Regional Committee Chair an opportunity to ask question on issues regarding the elections.

Shocked with the refusal for them to have access into the meeting, most of the militants gave up on their worries after waiting to no avail.

Njikam, Njika Confusion Downplayed

In a Divisional Coordination meeting that preceded the coming of the Regional Committee, Jones Shey Yembe, who is in charge of Meme Division maintained that, until the Central Committee produces another letter, Njikam remains in charge of Meme IA.

During the same meeting, Richard Ngu Njikam lamented that he did not apply to be appointed to the position. By the close of the Regional meeting, he averred that “I am not a feather weight politician; I will conduct the elections in Meme IA and deliver the results within the stipulated time frame.”

Talba Malla Satisfied With Commissions Work

According to the Regional President, Ibrahim Talba Malla, the reports of the various committees speak of work already in progress.

He expressed satisfaction with the road covered in Meme Division, noting that the CPDM remains a party of inclusion as such, every militant’s opinion counts. On the problem in Meme IA, the Regional President declared that “the situation remains as it is, while we wait on the Central Committee of the party.”
