Cameroonians have joined the South African community in Cameroon to celebrate the 22nd South African Freedom Day.
Commemorative activities were in the form of a cocktail dinner party organised this April 27, 2016 at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde.
During the ceremony, the South African High Commissioner, Zanele Makina explained that Freedom Day marks the birth of freedom in South Africa and an end to apartheid.
Her Excellency, Zanele Makina further indicated that this 2016, South Africa celebrates 40 years of the youth march and 60 years of the female liberation march.
The cocktail party also served as platform for Cameroon South Africa ties to be revisited especially through:
- Cooperation between the University of Pretoria in South Africa and that of Dschang in Cameroon
- Relations in the domain of defence
- Plans for South African Airways to be introduced in Yaounde
The South African Diplomat also commended President Paul Biya’s fight against Boko Haram and pledged her country’s determination in fighting terrorism in Africa.
