The Electoral Board Chairman of ELECAM, Fonkam Azu'u Samuel in a press release after the board meeting, specified that Senators shall be elected at the level of the Region, which constitutes the constituency for the election. He said the Electoral College is composed of municipal councilors in office and voting will take place at each divisional headquarter.

The Electoral Code states that the country has 100 Senators, 70 of them elected and 30 appointed by decree of the President of the Republic. Each region has 10 Senators, seven of whom are elected and three appointed by the President of the Republic. Lists of candidates are submitted by political parties. Dr Fonkam Azu'u therefore in the press release, invited political parties wishing to take part in the election to present a list of seven substantive candidates and seven alternate candidates in each region.

ELECAM, he stated, has taken measures to conduct the senatorial election and continue preparations for other upcoming elections. He invited potential voters to keep on registering on the electoral registers.
