The Cameroon Government don’t want to hear anything about the release of the former Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic Marafa Hamidou Yaya.

Cameroon has reacted on July 1, 2016, to the request of the work of the United Nations Group (UN), which considers that the former Minister of Territorial Administration arrested in 2012 and sentenced to 25 years Prison for intellectual complicity and embezzlement in a case of the aborted purchase of a presidential plane in 2000, is detained in violation of international law.

The Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary spoke on the evening of Friday on the antennas of Radio France International (RFI).

He indicated that “the position of the Government of Cameroon is very simple. First the separation of powers does not allow me as Minister of Communication, representative of the Executive, to issue a value judgment.

Second, that UN work group is giving their point of view, their opinion. But this opinion, this point of view does not concern the government, does not order, does not require the Cameroonian government to respect the working group of the conclusions of the auxiliary organ of the United Nations. ”

Issa Tchiroma added that “the separation of powers makes that the Cameroonian Government implements the decisions taken by our justice which is an independent power. Do not ask the government to interfere with the judgment of our justice. ”
