The on-going exercise to renew basic organs of the CPDM party seems more problematic than expected in some key sections in Fako. Not only are some members of the commissions appointed by the party hierarchy to supervise the exercise resigning, hatred, intrigues and egoism seem to have stolen the show most sections of Paul Biya’s party.

In Fako for example at least four persons have resigned as committee members. Dr. Ernest Molua and Victor Elame are just two of such defecting militants.

In CPDM Fako III Buea in particular, The Median gathered that the situation has taken run-away proportions, with militants taking up arms against one another.

“Some people want to de-enfranchise others because of selfish, parochial motives,” noted Barrister John Kameni, aspirant for the post of vice president in CPDM Fako III Buea. Sounding seemingly disappointed John Kameni observed that grassroots militants, elites of the party and even some members of the committees appointed by the Central Committee to supervise the reorganization exercise in Buea have resorted to tribalism, favouritism and egoism in the validation of candidatures this, in total disregard for the National Chairman’s call for peace and national unity.

“Some lists are considered devilish simply because the names of non-indigenes feature prominently in them,” Barrister John Kameni complained bitterly.

Revisiting the presidential texts giving guidelines for the reorganization exercise John Kameni noted that all militants are eligible to vote and be voted provided they are up-to-date with their party obligations.

He fears that the disenfranchisement of some militants may only lead to mass disobedience and chaos by militants. He questioned whether some Fako Elites are bigger and more powerful than the National Chairman of the party, Paul Biya, as to erroneously think that they can decide who should be candidate and who should not.

Barrister Kameni notes further that the discrimination and xenophobia has assumed a dimension whereby some aspirants are openly threatened, intimidated, confronted and with some even accused of possessing ill-gotten wealth, just to name but these.

He cited the case of Mayor Patrick Ekema, aspiring section president for CPDM Fako III Buea, who has been a victim of all sorts of ill-fated allegations.

Pointing accusing fingers at Senator Mbella Moki and Hon. Emilia Lifaka as those fuelling the flames of xenophobia in Fako III, Barrister Kameni recalled for example how very recently Senator Mbella Moki damned Mayor Patrick Ekema in public, accusing him of displaying ill-gotten wealth.

Recalling that Senator Mbella Moki was only a junior staff with Sonel when they were all members of the YCPDM and before he became mayor of Buea, John Kameni wondered how with the very meager salary, Senator Mbella could build houses and ride in big cars.

“For Mbella Moki to stand today in public and talk about ill-gotten wealth, when as a councilor I know what transpired at the council during his eleven years as mayor, I think Mbella has simply used his own gun to shoot his leg,” said Barrister JK, who noted that: “Senator Mbella is simply awed by the fact that the same budget that he controlled when he was mayor and could not use for the benefit of the community is now, to his greatest embarrassment, being used by Ekema Patrick for the community’s benefit.”

Also addressing the issue of party cards, the seemingly beleaguered Barrister noted that the bulk of the over 30.000 party cards that were put at the disposal of Buea CPDM for distribution to militants have not been distributed.

Recalling that he personally contributed 500.000 FCFA for the buying of cards, John Kameni questioned what Hon. Lifaka has done with the money giving that the cards are not forthcoming.
