The Union des Populations du Cameroun (UPC) intends to go through with its fight to acquire a seat at the office of the National Assembly. For the Secretary-General of the party, it is not a claim but a right.

"We simply want to challenge all those who are responsible for applying the rules of procedure at the National Assembly to consider sections 17, paragraph 7 of the rules of procedure of the National Assembly which States that the bureau of the National Assembly should have its configuration of the political parties that make up the National Assembly.

So it's not a claim, it is therefore a right which is equivalent to the Union des Populations du Cameroun", said the Parliamentarian to the press.

The election of the new bureau of the lower House of Parliament will be the key point of this session. MPs seem also concerned in the war against the Islamist sect Boko Haram.

The outgoing bureau, chaired by Cavaye Yeguie Djibril was composed of 23 members including a president, a first Vice-President, five Vice Presidents, four Questors and 12 Secretaries.

Even if the CPDM has the lion's share, other parties such as the Social Democratic Front (SDF), the Union démocratique du people Camerounais (UDC) had a representation at the assembly.
