Honorable Etombi Gladys, Member of Parliament for Fako East has declared that she benefited from an “across the board” support to get into parliament. She said that not only militants of the CPDM members voted her into Parliament.
She was speaking recently during a public awareness talk that she organised at the Limbe City Council.
Quizzed on what she had in mind before organising the public awareness talk, she put it in the following way; “What I had in mind was to inform the people who elected me into office of my plans because I discovered that many people do not know what we do, what we are expected to do and what we actually carry out. It is also an occasion to present my publication which is called “Your Parliamentarian.”
Commenting on grounds so far covered in her one year stay in Parliament. She said “my biggest challenge is the responsibility to satisfy the people that I serve. It’s not easy because you discover that many people have different challenges and the means are not always enough to permit you do all these things. We however try the best we can to bring development to our people.” She said after this awareness talk, her doors would remain open to the public to get suggestions from people.
Concerning her vision, she said from the beginning of her mandate, it has always been to educate and to help in the health domain. The general intention she explained is to bring real development to the people. Every thing that is done she said is encompassed in that vision.
While thanking the people of Limbe, Tiko and Muyuka for voting the CPDM candidates into Parliament, she said her encounter with the media was an occasion to render account and promised to maintain a permanent relationship with the media family.
In the domain of development she said as a member of parliament she had fulfilled the roles incumbent on her adding that she was building lobbying networks for needed developments in Limbe, Tiko and Muyuka. In the same vain she said in the past 12 months she’d carried out actions in the domains of health, education and that the agricultural sector had benefited from micro grants. Some of her actions so far carried out she said can be seen in her publication entitled “Your Parliamentarian”.
The Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council Andrew Monjimba Mutanga among other things talked about some development related issues like the Alpha Club Road in Limbe which remains a thorny issue. He said he brought the issue up recently at the National Forum for Urbanisation.
A project which he said was almost being received when the road had not been constructed. Like the Honorable Member of Parliament, the Government Delegate said “we are here to serve everybody and not just CPDM militants.”
The Public Awareness talk was attended by CPDM bigwigs Limbe, representatives of other political parties, traditional rulers among others.
