SCNC activist interrupts youth day in Kumba

A man who was identified as an SCNC activist is reported to have interrupted the Youth Day celebrations in Kumba when he forced his way up the Grand Stand, demanding from the Senior Divisional Officer, the significance of the Youth Day.

He questioned why the day should be celebrated when Southern Cameroonians are in “bondage”.

He was immediately apprehended by elements of the police and placed under police custody.

The alleged SCNC activist, in a very high tone, maintained that he is a freedom fighter and will continue to question the government of ‘la Republic’ why their continuous interest in ‘southern Cameroon’ territory is neglected, until the day Southern Cameroon, according to him, will gain total freedom and independence.

Meanwhile, the close of the Youth day activities was characterized with a colourful match pass exhibited by the various colleges, primary schools and youth groups with PHS Kumba emerging overall best, the SDO for Meme Koulbout Aman David, addressing the battery of media practitioners present at the occasion, challenged the youthful population to promote peace in the country as a prerequisite for Emergence by 2035.

He equally encouraged the youths to remain patriotic, vigilant and disciplined especially in the face of the recent security threats plaguing the border Regions of Cameroon.

The SDO, urged the youths to remain law abiding citizens and take advantage of the several opportunities offered them by the state, to be responsible leaders of tomorrow.

He hinted that the Head of State during his message to the Youths meant business when he announced that about 350,000 jobs are ready for grabs by the youths especially as the youths have a fundamental role to play in the preservation of the most cherished peace the Nation is enjoying inside a turbulent sub-region.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Director of the Higher Technical Teachers Training College, HTTTC, Dr Joyce Endeley, and the Member of Parliament for Kumba Urban Constituency, Hon Mbanya Bolevie and the spectacular public appearance of the former Government Delegate to the defunct Kumba Urban Council Cavin Nnoko Mbele.
