SDF officials in Kumba have expressed disappointment that a CPDM MP has been appointed to head the follow-up committee for the execution of Public Investment Projects, BIP, in Meme, Southwest Region.

Meme West, MP Hon. Martin Atinda Mboni, was appointed recently as Chairman of the Southwest BIP Follow-up Committee. The SDF officials have reportedly petitioned the SDO for Meme on the issue. In their petition, the complainants claimed that it was the turn of the SDF to control the position, given that, Hon. Samuel Bokwe Ngoe, former Meme West CPDM MP, held the position during the last mandate.

The administration is said to have initially nominated Hon. Bolevie Mbanya, SDF MP for Kumba Urban, to the post but reversed the choice after the latter reportedly failed to show up at the Prefects’ cabinet for briefings. The SDF leaders were reportedly dumbfounded when they were asked to go and find out from the MP what happened and not the administration.

Mbanya, The Post Learnt, has not been liaising well with the administration especially during public meetings and council sessions compared to Atinda who is said to do from time to time. Beyond all the claims, Atinda, CPDM supporters argue, has a comparative advantage over Mbanya because Meme West is about three times Kumba Urban. The CPDM militants told The Post that Atinda has over 100 villages to take care of as an MP compared to Mbanya.

They equally claim that most of the BIP projects are found in Meme West and that is why the CPDM MP was nominated to chair the follow-up committee. Attempts by The Post to contact Hon. Mbanya for comments were unsuccessful.
