The Cameroon Journal has just been informed of the resignation of SDF party’s Secretary General, Elizabeth Tamanjong.
It is not clear when she first tendered the resignation. Some sources said she did so early in the week, some said it was Friday Feb. 13. Tamanjong’s resignation is said to have been tendered to John Fru Ndi, Chairman of the SDF.
But it was kept a secret for a National Executive Committee NEC, meeting of the party to deliberate on it today, Saturday Feb. 14.
Reasons for Tamanjong’s resignation are still very sketchy but a source told The Cameroon Journal that she cited major inconsistencies and failures in the party’s leadership as reasons for her resignation.
The move is being applauded by many observers as a courageous one, coming from one of the last standing party’s finest and dedicated member who has been loyal to the party since the early 90s. Various phone attempts to reach her at press time were not successful.
Tamanjong was made Secretary General of the SDF in 2006 after the abrupt resignation of Prof. Tazoache Asonganyi, citing same reasons as Tamanjong’s. Stay tuned as we bring you details of the developments.
