The President of the House, Marcel Niat Njifenji, chaired a meeting on May 6, 2014.

Members of the Bureau of the Senate yesterday, May 6, 2014 reviewed the current situation of the House and made projections into work that awaits the Senate in the June 2014 ordinary session of Parliament, the President of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji told reporters. The President chaired the Bureau meeting of the Senate he described as being statutory.

Answering a question on the balance sheet of the Senate close to a year since the House of Parliament went functional, Marcel Niat Njifenji said it was functioning normally. He stated that Senators were working with the consciousness to consolidate the House.

The preoccupations of the Senate, he further said correspond to the wish of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya who wants the Senate and the National Assembly, the two Houses that make up Cameroon’s Parliament to work in harmony.

For the past one year, he said, the harmony was practised as bills examined and adopted in the National Assembly were forwarded to the Senate for second reading. He said all the bills tabled in the Senate were examined and adopted. Marcel Niat Njifenji concluded by stating that the Senate has been carrying out its expected missions.
