This was in a hotly contested SDF District Election that took place yesterday night at the Batibo Village Hall. Incumbent chair, Concillor Weriwo Maurice Mbah edged his rival, Forkwa Augustine by 487 to 417 votes.

A cream of the party’s big wig in the region had descended on Batibo to witness the reorganization of the party here with the likes of Njong Donatus, Mayor of Kumbo, Fongu Cletus Mayor of Bamenda III, the mayors of Ndu and Belo and the Hon. Mbah Ndam Joseph, Vice President of the National Assembly.

The event also saw the resignation of militants from the CPDM and NUDP into the ranks of the SDF, as the party continues it stronghold of the constituency where it has been on the driving seat since the inception of multiparty democracy in the country in 1992.

There are also indications that the elections was a silent tussle between the outspoken incumbent and the MP for Momo South, Hon. Mbah Ndam Joseph who had invested his interest on the challenger, Forkwa Augustine. Over 1500 militants took part in the elcetion.

Earlier yesterday, Tah George, former mayor of Mbengwi bounced back from the political doldrums to win the position of District Chairman for Mbengwi, beating his challenger Awasum Princely by just two votes.

He later on co-opted Hon. PC FONSO, FON OSHIA CHICK, Aasm Pricely and Mrs Tah Grace Mah into his District Executive. From Batibo, the exercise moves to the Southwest region in Mbonge on the 9th and Tiko on the 10th of July 2015.
