  La démocratie, littéralement « pouvoir du peuple », prend ses origines dans l’Athènes antique, où les citoyens participaient directement aux décisions politiques. Depuis, la démocratie a évolué vers des modèles représentatifs et pluralistes, fondés sur les droits humains, les systèmes multipartites et la participation citoyenne, garantissant ainsi justice et paix.
  
  Au Cameroun, l’histoire politique reflète ce chemin démocratique, marqué par le multiculturalisme et des expériences uniques. Dans les années 1945-50, l’Union du Cameroun (UC) s’est divisée en deux partis idéologiques, influencés par le contexte français: l’UNC et l’UPC, premiers signes du multiculturalisme camerounais. En 1960, sous la présidence d’Ahmadou Ahidjo, ces partis ont été unifiés en un parti unique afin de favoriser l’unité nationale et le développement des ressources humaines. Plus tard, avec l’arrivée au pouvoir de Paul Biya en 1982 et son *Projet de société* sur le libéralisme communautaire, le multiculturalisme fut officiellement reconnu en 1990. Pourtant, la démocratie participative et représentative complète reste à atteindre.
  
  Après plus de 25 ans dans ce système, le Cameroun doit maintenant franchir un nouveau pas. Face aux défis de gouvernance et à la fatigue du régime actuel, le président Bello Bouba Maïgari incarne la continuité, l’unité et le renouveau. Il s’engage pour la paix, le respect de la diversité et la justice sociale et offre l’espoir d’une démocratie inclusive où le pouvoir appartient véritablement au peuple.
  
  Voter pour le président Bello Bouba Maïgari, c’est soutenir une transition pacifique garantissant l’intégration nationale et une véritable continuité démocratique.   *PARTICIPATORY AND REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY: A LUXURY FOR AFRICA?*

  Democracy, literally meaning "power of the people," originates from ancient Athens, where citizens directly took part in political decisions. Since then, democracy has evolved into representative and pluralistic models based on human rights, multiparty systems, and citizen participation, which guarantee justice and peace.
  
  In Cameroon, political history reflects this democratic path, shaped by multiculturalism and unique experiences. In the 1940s and 50s, the Cameroon Union (UC) split into two ideological parties influenced by the French context: UNC and UPC, early signs of Cameroon’s multicultural structures. In 1960, President Ahmadou Ahidjo united these parties into one single party to promote national unity and develop human resources. Later, with Paul Biya’s rise to power in 1982 and his *Project of Society* for communitarian liberalism, multiculturalism was officially recognized in 1990. However, full participatory and representative democracy remains a goal.
  
  After more than 25 years in this system, Cameroon must now take a new step. Facing governance challenges and signs of fatigue in the current regime, President Bello Bouba Maïgari embodies continuity, unity, and renewal. He is committed to peace, respect for diversity, and social justice and offers hope for an inclusive democracy where power truly lies with the people.
  
  Voting for President Bello Bouba Maïgari means supporting a peaceful transition guaranteeing national integration and true democratic continuity. It means choosing leadership that consolidates achievements and opens the path to a new Cameroon — a Cameroon of renewal where every citizen has a voice in the democratic process.
